Folding rocking chairs
Believe it or not, the concept of a folding rocking chair is not a new invention, instead something that was invention almost a century ago. Although with the cost of accomadation these days, the concept appears to have taken a new revamp. I recently actually saw one on sale at Target.
Folding rocking chairs do actually some added advantages over a standard folding chair, the type you would normally make use of in your convervatory or when travelling, in so much they do also offer an extra degree of comfort. Although personally I would not really recommend them for travelling to unkown locations, as they really do require a flat service.
Instead they offer really good value for the patio or out house, due to their portable nature. I also have one customer of mine who actually makes use of it in their bedroom. Why? Well actually as mentioned above, you can now pick them up in main stream stores, so they can actually be much cheaper than a tradtional rocking chair, that are generally renowed for their durability, making the materials used in their manufacture, that much more expensive.
If you are the owner of a rocking chair you know how very comfortable they can be. Good for the posture, soothing, and relaxing when you sit in them, rocking chairs can become a habit irreplaceable by normal chairs. Now, if you have experienced this and caught yourself wishing that you could take a rocking chair with you wherever you went, you’d be pleased to know that you actually can! All you need is a folding rocking chair.
Folding rockers came on the scene in the 1920s as people started travelling a lot after the First World War. From a picnic to enjoying a little league game, from outdoor concerts and parties to camping, folding rocking chairs can help you take your favourite relaxing motion just about anywhere. They are also easier to store if you want to save space. One folding rocking chair design that really got popular in recent years is US-based MAC Sports’ ‘malibu’ rocking chair, which completely folds up into its own carry case.
Folding rocking chairs are available in a number of materials. For those who desire a more visually appealing look and a more classic feel, you can pick them up in a wide variety of woods such as teak, cedar, or pine – all treated with materials to repel bugs and resist water damage so you don’t have to worry about their exposure to the elements. Other options include metals such as steel and aluminium, or plastics – maybe not as pretty but cheaper and more weather-resistant.
If you are buying a folding rocking chair, be sure to examine it closely both in the packed and the unpacked position. While packed, see how compact it can get, and whether it is light enough to be carried around easily. For the unpacked position, you should test the chair’s construction – its hinges should lock in place and the joints should be strong to support the weight of a person. Watch out for any wobbles and listen closely for any creaking, they might indicate bad construction quality.
